You will be required to take classes and write a dissertation or research paper.

Typically, the coursework section will take two years to complete. However, depending on the university and program, you may be able to accelerate this portion of the program. There are between 12 and 15 classes that cover topics such as worship, preaching, evangelism, and liberal arts. There are also seminars that are required. If you are taking an online program, these may require that you perform a short campus based residency.

Once you have successfully completed the coursework, you will begin work on your dissertation. Typically, a school will have a timeline to finish this part of the program since it is predominately self paced. Students will be required to defend their dissertation findings.
