News that Liberty University reaches 50,000 enrollment has made the school the largest Christian higher education institution in the world. Having 50,000 students was a vision of Liberty University’s founder, Dr. Jerry Falwell, and it was realized only more than 2 years after his death.
The original goal of Dr. Falwell was to have only 5,000 students enrolled at Liberty University. But he was able to foresee how technology will play a big role in how students access education. He was right. Today, Liberty University has more than 45,000 online students and nearly 12,000 on-campus enrollees.
This accomplishment of Liberty Universities reaches 50,000 enrollment is a huge deal in the school. For a relatively young school, founded only in 1971, the progress of this university has been a thing to behold and experience. Current Chancellor, Dr. Falwell’s son, Jerry Falwell Jr. is optimistic as to how the school will continue to improve and develop over the years.
Considering that the school started with only 154 students and is now the largest Christian university in the world, a brighter future is not an impossibility. If the current trend continues, thousands more will enroll in this school in the coming years. In 2008, there were only 27,000 enrolled in the university. Today, that number increased by 20,000.
