Abilene Christian University Uses iPhones at This Year’s State of the Union Address

Abilene has always been a little ahead of the curve when it comes to utilizing modern technology for educational purposes. The fact that they offer such an extensive and accessible online learning and degree system is proof of that. But they took it a step further this year at President Obama’s first State of the Union Address.

Using iPhones, which are now distributed to the entire learning class, students were able to comment on questions given about the speech in real time. Students would see a question flash onto their iPhone screen, would weigh in with their opinions, and a small graph showing the poll results would show on the corner of the screen. This allowed students to participate more with their peers in a discussion about the issues being raised.
